Our Story It started with my marriage to my husband many years ago. With my ancestors being from Hungary, where the best down is produced, my family has used down comforters and pillows for generations. I grew up with this luxury and hoped to pass the tradition along to my own children thus bringing down comforters and pillows into my new life and home. Within days of our marriage my husband developed a reaction we thought was seasonal and would pass or be alleviated with allergy or cold medication none of which he responded to. Fortunately with the timing of events and assistance of our physician we soon figured out that this is no less an allergic reaction to the down products we had carefully selected in a custom down shop. With a strong resolve not to compromise the cozy comfort and luxury of my bed (or sleep!) I had to find a down product that was hypoallergenic and that my husband could sleep with. Thus I started my research: What is it in down products that makes people sneeze and wheeze? What I have learned is that it is not the plummet of down or actual feather that makes one have this discomfort, but it is the dander, other particles and dust mites that are in the product that can cause such a reaction.
