Guide to Protecting and Cleaning your Down Product:
<< Back to Product Facts & Care

Congratulations you have just made a wise investment, one that will be handed down to future generations, providing you protect your comforter by using a DUVET COVER. Children and Pets should not be permitted to jump on it and careful cleaning or washing will extend the life of your comforter.

Professional dry cleaning is recommended when and if necessary. It is 100% safe to wash our down comforters, pillows and mattress pads in a large capacity washer and dryer, if necessary go to a Laundromat.

A) You will notice your comforter inflating like a balloon as the washer fills with water thus preventing free flow of water and detergent to soak and cleanse your comforter properly. We suggest soaking and repeating another wash cycle if you are not absolutely satisfied with the results. Remember your washing machine has difficulty moving this heavy load around especially in a top loading home washer. Your assistance may be required to manually reposition product in the washer.

B) Down Products are extremely heavy when wet and must be perfectly balanced in your washer to ensure proper spinning, if it shifts to one side your washer will become aggravated and start jumping. You must reorganize the comforter and repeat your spin cycle. Pillows should be washed in pairs, keep in mind one pillow cannot balance your washer and it will not spin.

C) When removing product from washer you will notice the down is clumped together in the corner of each square, that is precisely the nature of down when wet. Therefore drying rings, golf balls, sneakers etc. must be part of the drying process to beat the clumps apart while the dryer is in motion, thus restoring the fluffiness to your down comforter. Failure to follow these instructions will result in your dryer running for hours on end, the shell will be perfectly dry, yet be a small clusters of down in each corner will remains as is.
